The world of production and the world of culture seldom take each other into consideration and so we believe it is important to create links between these two realms. The first component of this investigative endeavour is a book that has just been published, through which we reveal the diversity of this region: “Hemendik, the story of 50 iconic objects from the Basque Country”.
Apart from the objects themselves, it is the know-how and creative processes that enthrall us. Furthermore, the objects emerge from a confluence of abundant information, whether historical, social, geographical or more besides … all of which enables us to better grasp the intangible memory nestling within these objects. The selection does not take into account the objects’ chronology or typology and it takes the same approach with old or current, craftmade or industrially-manufactured objects.
